Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team at Wake County Public School System.

This role is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including analyzing and reconciling records to ensure effective financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and distributing funds, researching and applying funds to correct general ledger accounts, verifying receipt of checks from mail and applying credit card payments to general ledger, and posting funds received via ACH and wire transmittal into Oracle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and distribute funds and/or financial documents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Research and apply funds to correct general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Verify receipt of checks from mail and apply credit card payments to general ledger, maintaining accurate records.
  • Post funds received via ACH and wire transmittal into Oracle, ensuring seamless financial operations.
  • Communicate effectively with school system personnel and vendors concerning accounts receivable matters, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Review reports from the nightly cycle and Oracle interface for errors and coordinate corrections, ensuring financial accuracy.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with two years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
  • Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as effective time management skills and the ability to perform complex arithmetical computations accurately.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with Oracle financial applications is highly desirable, but not mandatory.

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience, plus additional benefits and opportunities for growth and development.
