Position Summary

WSP is looking for a Senior Consultant in Geotechnical Engineering to contribute to our operations. The ideal candidate will engage in various civil and geotechnical engineering initiatives, emphasizing construction quality assurance (CQA), foundation design, site assessment, slope stability analysis, natural hazard evaluations, and geotechnical applications in energy and transportation sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in drafting construction record reports (as-built documentation) for landfill and pond closures.
  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, design, and quality assurance for utility projects, including tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads, and other essential infrastructure.
  • Perform design calculations, such as slope stability assessments and settlement analysis, and assist in the preparation of technical documentation.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in construction materials testing.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Must pass a background check and maintain a satisfactory driving record in line with company policy.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in preparing construction record reports for heap leach and tailings storage facilities.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D software.
  • Field experience in CQA for earthworks and geomembrane installations.
  • Certification as a GCI-ICP inspector.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
Physical Requirements
  • Completion of a physical examination to obtain medical clearance for work.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Clean driving record and eligibility for insurance to operate company vehicles.
  • Able to work in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures.
