Position Summary

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Consultant, Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to our operations. The ideal candidate will engage in a range of civil and geotechnical engineering initiatives, emphasizing construction quality assurance (CQA), foundation design, site assessment, slope stability analysis, natural hazard evaluations, and geotechnical engineering for energy and transportation sectors.

Your Contributions
  • Assist in the preparation of construction documentation (as-built reports) for landfill and pond closures.
  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, design, and oversee construction quality assurance for utility projects, including tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads, and other infrastructure.
  • Perform design calculations, such as slope stability assessments and settlement analysis, and assist in the creation of technical reports.
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering; a Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Over 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in construction materials testing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Must pass a background check and maintain a satisfactory driving record in line with company policy.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in preparing construction documentation for heap leach and tailings storage facilities.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D software.
  • Field experience in CQA for earthworks and geomembrane installations.
  • Certification as a GCI-ICP inspector.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
Physical Requirements
  • Medical examination required for clearance to work.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record and be eligible for insurance to operate company vehicles.
  • Able to work in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures.
