About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at Securian Financial Group. As a key member of our HR team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a positive work environment and advising management on various employee relations issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise management on employee relations matters, including performance coaching, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including management, leadership, and external partners.
  • Identify gaps in management's understanding and application of successful staff management practices and recommend effective actions.
  • Manage assigned program areas to ensure a positive and productive work environment, including background checks, business continuity, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to corporate reorganizations and position reductions.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of employee relations experience, with a demonstrated track record of success in handling employee relations issues, interpreting employment laws, and writing and implementing HR policies.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, including EEO, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, and FCRA.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and drive results.
  • Professional written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to provide advice and counsel to employees and managers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful track record in a bachelor's degree program or comparable experience.
  • Experience in financial services in a human resources role.
  • Experience advising on employee relations issues with exempt/senior roles.
