WAA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency recognized as Philadelphia's foremost advocate and service provider for domestic violence. Our mission is to deliver compassionate, high-quality services that empower individuals experiencing intimate partner violence through advocacy and community education. With a dedicated staff of over 170, we offer safe havens, transitional housing, legal assistance, hotline support, and various community-based services.

Key Responsibilities:
The Housekeeper will ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the Emergency Shelter, which encompasses resident rooms and administrative areas. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning facilities in accordance with established procedures and schedules.
  • Emptying waste receptacles, dusting surfaces, spot cleaning, and sanitizing bathrooms.
  • Vacuuming, shampooing carpets, and mopping floors.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in community areas and preparing bedrooms for new residents.
  • Adhering to safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals.
  • Assisting with additional housekeeping tasks as assigned.

All tasks will be performed in alignment with our mission and values, incorporating a trauma-informed approach.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in janitorial services is essential, with a preference for residential cleaning experience.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and communicating in English is required.
  • Ability to effectively engage with a diverse population is necessary; experience in urban settings is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills are essential.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform regular bending and standing tasks.
  • Bilingual candidates are highly preferred.
  • Completion of Domestic Violence Advocate Training will be required post-hire (with compensation).
  • Successful clearance of Child Abuse, Criminal, and FBI background checks is mandatory prior to employment.

Work Schedule: Part-time, eligible for benefits, 33 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday, 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Compensation: $16.47 per hour, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, and dental coverage, paid time off, annual salary increases, and retention bonuses for every two years of service.
