Role Summary:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists by managing, preparing, and distributing medications. This position operates within a pharmaceutical distribution environment under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processes medication and supply requests for delivery to healthcare facilities associated with the health system.
- Commits to working at least one full weekend (Saturday & Sunday) each month.
- Coordinates deliveries to clients using various courier services while ensuring adherence to temperature control protocols (e.g., cold chain, ambient temperature).
- Records pharmaceutical distribution activities for medications and equipment, maintaining quality control standards through both automated and manual systems, ensuring data accuracy.
- Addresses and prioritizes inquiries from clients regarding pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
- Employs automated dispensing systems and related software to fulfill client orders efficiently.
- Manages inventory by receiving, restocking, and rotating stock, as well as overseeing expiration date compliance.
- Contributes to initiatives aimed at improving operational processes.
- Engages in regulatory compliance inspections and documentation related to medication storage areas.
Additional Information
Educational Qualifications:
● No specific education required if other qualifications are met. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
● Must be registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless currently enrolled in a PharmD program.
● Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience:
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
- Experience in inventory management is advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (typically throughout an 8-hour shift).
- Must be capable of lifting at least 40 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
- Must be able to reach overhead to access products on shelves.
