Job Summary

As a Certified Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, fulfill medication and supply orders for distribution to hospitals and clinics within and/or affiliated with the health-system.
  • Compound and/or repack medications (non-sterile products, oral, topical, etc.) under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Coordinate shipments to hospitals and clinics with multiple couriers and shipment pathways and ensure compliance with temperature requirements (i.e., cold chain, room temperature).
  • Document pharmaceutical distribution activities for medications and equipment, quality control requirements, etc. using automated and paper systems. Ensure accuracy of data.
  • Respond to and triage requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
  • Support hospital automated dispensing technology to supply correct refill medications through targeted distribution programs.
  • Receive, restock, and rotate inventory, and complete expiration date management.
  • Assist with training of new employees, educating them in job-specific functions.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects.
  • Participate in regulatory compliance inspection of medication storage areas, including inspections and/or controlled substance inventories, USP797 and other regulatory documentation as required.
Requirements
  • Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
  • CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
  • Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
  • Requires standing for extended periods (most of an 8-hour shift).
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to reach over head to access shelved product.

UNC Health Care offers a competitive salary range of $24.63 per hour (Hiring Range), with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity. This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care.
