Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and accurately transcribe orders from prescribers under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Process prescriptions in a timely manner to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Assist with training new employees and educating them on job-specific functions.
  • Support Medication Therapy Management, Medsync, and other clinical outreach programs.
  • Select and prepare medications as authorized by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Prepare medications for pick-up, delivery, or shipping, and return unpurchased medications to stock and process credits.
  • Solve issues with patient payment, including prior authorization and patient assistance.
  • Respond to and triage requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy services that do not require a pharmacist's professional judgment or expertise.
  • Operate and support automated dispensing technology to supply correct medications for individual patients.
  • Order, receive, restock, and rotate inventory and supplies, and contribute to expiration date management.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects.
Requirements
  • Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
  • CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
  • Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
