Position Objective:

This role involves supporting the assessment, selection, and implementation of standard engineering methodologies, procedures, and criteria. The position requires the application of judgment to make minor adaptations and modifications to power plant system components aimed at enhancing reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. Additionally, the role includes monitoring water chemistry to ensure optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting engineering analyses to boost plant performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Help gather equipment performance metrics and document vibration data.
  • Support the balancing of rotating machinery.
  • Contribute to maintenance planning and inventory management tasks.
  • During unit outages, aid in the inspection of plant equipment/systems and coordinate necessary repairs.
  • Assist in entering maintenance and outage repair information for all plant equipment into management software.
  • Monitor and analyze water chemistry for water systems.
  • Update and manage the drawing database by recording changes.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support at other generation stations.
  • Prepare reports on generation performance.
  • Assist in meeting compliance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an EAC/ABET accredited mechanical engineering program.
  • Strong technical writing skills and proficiency in spreadsheet and database software.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Resume submission is required.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

This position entails frequent sitting and the ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, with occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and crawling. The role may require pushing/pulling up to 15 pounds and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. The incumbent will use a computer and may work at heights up to 250 feet, necessitating safety equipment usage in compliance with ANSI Z359 standards. Good finger dexterity, hand coordination, hearing, and vision are essential. The role may involve working in confined spaces and exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, fumes, chemicals, vibration, and noise. Tools and equipment utilized include scaffolding, vibration testing devices, electronic measuring instruments, and surveying tools. The incumbent must be capable of analyzing data, conducting research, implementing recommendations, coordinating projects, developing plans, and presenting information effectively.
