Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Plains, a leading transportation and midstream provider. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and HAZMAT tankers, as well as performing general maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on transport trucks, trailers, and pickups.
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedule to ensure prompt response to maintenance needs.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly inspected and maintained to meet D.O.T. and state regulations.
  • Operate fork lift and company-assigned pickup trucks as needed.
  • Familiarize yourself with all safety procedures for working with electricity, engines, compressors, and material safety data sheets.
  • Work in proximity to significant hazards, requiring safety accommodations and/or procedures.
  • Perform brake jobs, troubleshooting, electrical problems, and inspect equipment.
  • Conduct state truck and trailer inspections.
  • Make independent decisions and report work progress regularly.
  • Manage paperwork, inspection compliance, and records keeping.
  • Work independently and initiate outside repairs as needed.
  • Assist in scheduling trucks for maintenance and inspections.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets.
  • Work under indirect and occasional supervision.
  • Lead and train other mechanics as needed.
  • Fill in for the lead mechanic when required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Promote safety in decisions and actions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in diesel mechanics or a related field.
  • Intermediate mechanical aptitude and familiarity with diesel and gasoline engines, electronics, and testing equipment.
  • Basic math skills to take measurements, change speedometers, read manuals, and perform service work.
  • Applicable safety training, licenses, and certifications for the job assignment.
  • Must have own tools (Tool Allowance provided).
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class C operator driver's license to operate company pickup trucks; CDL license is preferred.
  • Pass pre-employment background check (including MVR) and drug testing.
Compensation

The pay range for this role is $36.19 - $42.57 USD Hourly, depending on relevant work experience and education. Our compensation includes a generous benefits package that begins on day one of employment.
