Job Overview

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is a skilled position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep of the Cleveland County Courthouse and its surrounding areas. This role encompasses a variety of tasks including maintenance, repair, and janitorial services, as well as landscape management.

Compensation

  • $35,000.00

Key Responsibilities

  • The role requires working under general supervision, effectively organizing and planning daily maintenance activities for the courthouse, grounds, and equipment. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist must demonstrate professionalism in interactions with colleagues and the public while performing various skilled and semi-skilled tasks, including carpentry, electrical repairs, HVAC maintenance, landscaping, plumbing, and painting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expertise in carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, painting, and HVAC maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations relevant to maintenance work.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to perform preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability of equipment.
  • Conduct inspections of HVAC systems to identify issues and safety hazards.
  • Experience in the replacement, repair, and installation of HVAC equipment.
  • Adherence to safety standards, specifications, and mechanical codes.
  • Experience in maintenance, repair, and installation at an industrial or commercial level.
  • Proficient in operating standard equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and plans for construction and installation.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations related to maintenance tasks.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and possess specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Manual dexterity is necessary to operate cleaning equipment effectively.
  • Must maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance and be able to climb ladders exceeding 10 feet in height.
  • Ability to walk on both smooth and uneven surfaces in various weather conditions; not all areas may be wheelchair accessible.
  • Ability to stand, reach, and bend for 75% of the workday.
  • Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and varying temperatures, as well as potential hazards involving heavy machinery and power tools.
  • Must communicate accurately and effectively with others at all times.
  • Workdays are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with on-call availability for emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses may be beneficial.
