Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is a skilled position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep of the Cleveland County Courthouse and its surrounding areas. This role encompasses a variety of maintenance tasks, including janitorial services, repairs, and grounds management.
Compensation
- $35,000.00
Key Responsibilities
- The role requires the ability to operate under general supervision, effectively planning and organizing daily maintenance activities for the courthouse, grounds, and equipment. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist must demonstrate professionalism in interactions with staff and the public while performing a range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks, including carpentry, electrical maintenance, HVAC servicing, landscaping, plumbing, and painting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, painting, and HVAC maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Understanding of safety regulations and protocols in maintenance work.
- Capability to work effectively under general supervision and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability of equipment.
- Assessment of HVAC installations to detect malfunctions and hazards.
- Repair, replacement, and installation of HVAC systems.
- Compliance with safety standards, specifications, and mechanical codes.
- Experience in maintenance, repair, and installation in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Operation of standard tools for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and plans for construction and installation.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations related to maintenance tasks.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Manual dexterity is necessary to operate cleaning equipment effectively. Attention to detail is crucial. Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is expected. Ability to climb ladders exceeding 10 feet is required. Must be able to traverse various surfaces in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, reach, and bend for 75% of the workday.
- Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and varying temperatures is expected. The role may involve exposure to hazardous situations, including heavy machinery and chemicals.
- Ascend/descend stairs 25% of the time.
- Effective communication with others is required 100% of the time.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
- Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- On-call availability for emergencies is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications or licenses may be beneficial.
