Position Overview:
The Booking Specialist plays a crucial role in the operational efficiency of the detention facility. This position involves a variety of data entry and administrative support tasks essential for maintaining accurate records and ensuring the smooth processing of inmates.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform data entry and clerical tasks to support the booking process, including generating reports and researching warrants.
- Manage inmate funds and provide general information to the public through effective communication.
- Supervise inmates in the booking area, ensuring safety and compliance with facility protocols.
- Process and release inmates while maintaining the integrity of all documentation and records.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information and workspaces.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Read and interpret legal documents, including medical instructions and court orders.
- Prepare detailed reports with correct grammar and punctuation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Provide customer service by assisting interested parties and managing the intake and release of property.

Data Management:
- Utilize computer systems for data entry, retrieval, and communication.
- Conduct crisis intervention, recognizing abnormal behavior and implementing appropriate responses.
- Exercise independent judgment in classifying inmates and addressing the needs of diverse populations.

Communication Skills:
- Demonstrate effective communication skills in formal settings, including court appearances.
- Use various communication systems to coordinate with staff and inmates effectively.

Surveillance and Security:
- Monitor inmates through visual and audio surveillance, ensuring compliance with facility regulations.
- Conduct searches for contraband and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment.

Training and Development:
- Assist in training new staff members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with a diverse range of individuals, including inmates, staff, and the public.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED is required, with one to two years of relevant experience preferred.
- Certifications in NCIC/CCIC, First Aid, and CPR are necessary.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with office procedures and applicable laws is essential.
- Proficiency in computer applications and strong typing skills are required.

Ability to:
- Follow instructions and make decisions based on established guidelines.
- Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
