Position Summary

The Senior Account Manager plays a pivotal role in cultivating the relationship between the agency and its clients. Reporting to a Senior Account Supervisor, Director, or VP, this individual will deliver continuous support and leadership for client accounts while maintaining a high level of service orientation in all interactions. A thorough understanding of both the clients' and agency's operations is essential. This role requires a collaborative team player who communicates effectively with internal teams and possesses expertise in various communication strategies, including video production, public relations, crisis management, internal communications, advertising, and digital media. The Senior Account Manager will also oversee budget and project management for accounts, ensuring optimal customer satisfaction and return on investment.

Strategic Planning and Research

  • Craft and present comprehensive, well-researched integrated communication, public relations, and marketing strategies to agency teams and clients.
  • Conduct research and analysis utilizing the Kane Way methodology.
  • Align communication, public relations, branding, and marketing efforts with broader business goals, ensuring plans are designed to achieve measurable outcomes for clients.

Project Development and Implementation

  • Collect information from clients and collaborate with internal and external partners to create proposals or briefs for new projects or scopes of work.
  • Engage directly with digital or research partners to obtain proposals and estimates as needed.
  • Oversee the execution of approved strategies and plans.
  • Work alongside the account team to implement research and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop branding, marketing, and creative strategies.
  • Provide relevant input and support to all team members, including contractors when applicable.
  • Ensure that scopes of work are fulfilled, contributing as necessary to content creation, media outreach, and other daily tasks.

Financial Oversight

  • Ensure all projects adhere to established budgets and scopes of work.
  • Advise clients on appropriate budget allocations.
  • Provide regular updates on account progress and budget needs for all assigned clients.
  • Approve and manage quotes, estimates, and invoices to meet budgetary requirements and maintain profitability.
  • Proactively identify and communicate any potential budgetary concerns.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with senior client personnel, focusing on delivering exceptional and proactive customer service.
  • Maintain positive and stable client relations while keeping senior management informed of any potential challenges.

Account Growth and Retention

  • Deliver outstanding service to clients, promptly addressing needs, requests, and changes in direction.
  • Stay informed about best practices in communications, public relations, marketing, and branding, as well as developments in clients' industries to propose innovative ideas.
  • Establish annual growth and retention objectives for each account and collaborate with a direct supervisor to develop strategies to achieve these goals.
  • Provide monthly financial forecasts for clients to assist in staff bandwidth planning.

Leadership and Accountability

  • Inspire and motivate team members by creating a vision that encourages excellence and skill development.
  • Hold team members accountable for delivering high-quality work while providing timely and constructive feedback.

Qualifications

Essential experience and core competencies for this role include:

  • A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, and/or public relations.
  • At least three years of experience in an agency setting managing client accounts as the primary point of contact while balancing multiple clients simultaneously.
  • Experience consulting with C-suite executives, recommending public relations, communications, integrated branding, and marketing strategies that address reputation and brand challenges.
  • Preferred experience in media pitching with established media contacts.
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks effectively and accurately assess and edit the work of others.
  • Ability to present examples of strategic, integrated branding, marketing, and public relations plans or findings reports with strategic recommendations.
  • A passion for social change initiatives, corporate communications, and the integration of brand research and digital marketing into public relations efforts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience managing entry-level staff.
