The Senior Assurance Consultant for Public Housing is tasked with spearheading accounting-related projects in partnership with BDO leadership. This role is engaged on an as-needed basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes expertise in HUD regulations and guidelines, effectively communicating their application
  • Proposes enhancements to client programs and housing policies
  • Evaluates workpapers and deliverables to ensure they meet client expectations and quality benchmarks
  • Aids in overseeing Finance engagement budgets
  • Employs extensive knowledge of diverse housing programs to derive conclusions on pertinent issues
  • Investigates program regulations and shares insights with clients
  • Offers accounting services such as reconciliation and financial reporting
  • Guides the development of subsidy applications and federal funding requests for clients
  • Performs additional duties as necessary

Supervisory Duties:

  • Mentors junior consultants
  • Provides constructive feedback to team members
  • Oversees the task assignments of consultants within the project team

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory

Experience:

A minimum of four years of experience in public accounting is essentialAt least one year of supervisory experience is preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

Currently pursuing CPA licensing is requiredCPA certification is preferred

Technical Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite is requiredFamiliarity with assurance applications and research tools is preferred

Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience in planning and coordinating audit phases
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and work autonomously or collaboratively
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail
  • Understanding of HUD Grant Programs and associated regulations
  • Project management proficiency

Compensation for candidates is determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geographical factors.

Compensation Range: $45.00/hr to $50.00/hr
