ROLE OVERVIEW

The MES Systems Engineer is essential in ensuring the seamless operation of manufacturing processes, specifically focusing on the MES for electric vehicle battery production. This role is pivotal in providing Tier 1 support, maintaining system efficiency, and swiftly addressing any operational challenges to minimize production interruptions and uphold quality standards. The HQ team in South Korea will manage Tier 2 support and significant system modifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver Tier 1 support for the MES, promptly addressing and resolving system issues on-site.
  • Continuously monitor MES performance to guarantee system availability and reliability.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and updates to ensure the MES remains current and efficient.
  • Assist with onsite equipment and logistics system testing.
  • Manage system operation scenarios, including preventive management and disaster simulation training.
  • Oversee system operations and monitor post-implementation activities.
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and implement improvements to optimize MES performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and HQ to ensure MES integration with other manufacturing systems.
  • Assess potential impacts of new implementations and process changes as the on-site expert.
  • Support new implementation testing in coordination with the HQ team.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive MES documentation, including standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides.
  • Diagnose and resolve MES-related issues, working closely with HQ and on-site teams.
  • Escalate complex issues to Tier 2 support at HQ when necessary.
  • Document all issues and resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Train manufacturing staff on MES functionalities and best practices.
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure effective system utilization.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should have over 8 years of experience in MES support or a similar capacity, ideally within a manufacturing context. Experience in electric vehicle battery production is advantageous. Strong familiarity with MES platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Plex, ION) is required, along with proficiency in SQL, databases, and scripting languages. Knowledge of Oracle databases and experience with MES system administration or data analysis is essential. Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control systems is also necessary. Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
