Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Systems Engineer to enhance our operational capabilities.

The MES Systems Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of manufacturing processes by managing and refining the MES for our EV battery production.

This role encompasses Tier 1 support, focusing on the efficient operation of the MES and swiftly addressing any issues to minimize production interruptions and uphold quality standards.

Complex issues and significant system modifications will be managed by the dedicated team at Samsung SDS HQ.

As the primary point of contact for Tier 1 support, this position will involve handling service tickets and effectively communicating enhancement requests to the Tier 2 team.
Key Responsibilities:

MES Support and Maintenance:

  • Deliver Tier 1 support for the MES, resolving system challenges promptly on-site.
  • Oversee MES performance to guarantee continuous availability and reliability.
  • Conduct regular system maintenance and updates to ensure optimal MES functionality.
  • Assist with on-site equipment and logistics system testing.
  • Manage system operation scenarios, including preventive management and disaster simulation training.
  • Monitor systems and evaluate post-implementation results.

System Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and implement strategies to improve MES performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate MES with other manufacturing systems.
  • Assess potential impacts of new implementations and process changes as the on-site expert.
  • Support new implementation testing in conjunction with the HQ team.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive MES documentation, including standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides.

Issue Resolution:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot MES-related issues, collaborating with HQ and on-site teams to resolve challenges.
  • Escalate complex issues to Tier 2 support as needed.
  • Document all issues and resolutions systematically.

Training and Support:

  • Educate manufacturing personnel on MES functionalities and best practices.
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure effective utilization of the system.
Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of experience in MES support or a related role, ideally within a manufacturing context.
  • Experience in EV battery manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of MES platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Plex, ION).
  • Proficiency in SQL, databases, and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Oracle databases.
  • Experience in MES system administration and/or database data analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Working Conditions:

  • This role may require occasional on-call support and flexible hours to address critical system issues.
  • The position may involve working in a manufacturing environment, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
  • May require coordination of video conferences between on-site and HQ teams.
