Position Summary

The Process Engineer plays a crucial role within the manufacturing division, tasked with the analysis and enhancement of productivity, yield, and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) in a battery production setting. This position encompasses leading initiatives for continuous improvement, enforcing quality control standards, and working alongside cross-functional teams to identify and resolve inefficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

Enhancing Productivity and Efficiency:
  • Conduct analyses to improve productivity, yield, and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) in manufacturing operations.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement (CI) projects aimed at refining product and process efficiency.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques, including 5S and Kaizen methodologies, to elevate overall operational performance.
Monitoring Defect Rates and Driving Continuous Improvement:
  • Leverage MES (Manufacturing Execution System), AQMS (Advanced Analytic Quality Management System), and Spotfire to assess production and quality trends, proposing and executing enhancements for improved product sustainability.
  • Compile and analyze monthly, weekly, and daily reports to support defect and anomaly investigations.
  • Utilize root cause analysis tools such as 5Why's, 4W1H, 8D, and fishbone diagrams.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and risk assessments using data-driven approaches.
  • Assist the Quality Department with defect analysis reports related to production components and processes.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to determine risk thresholds and interlock quantities.
Quality Assurance and Safety:
  • Evaluate safety and quality concerns, recommending and implementing corrective measures.
  • Oversee and uphold Statistical Process Control (SPC) to guarantee compliance with quality standards.
Acceptance Testing Procedures:
  • Design and execute Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) protocols to verify that equipment and processes fulfill specified criteria.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP):
  • Develop, maintain, and revise various Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure comprehensive operator understanding of process modifications.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment and smooth production transitions.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
  • Lead Cross-Functional Team (CFT) initiatives with Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot inefficiencies and enhance productivity.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination for streamlined production processes.
Meetings and Communication:
  • Prepare for and actively engage in meetings among cross-functional teams to discuss ongoing projects, challenges, and potential enhancements.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (mandatory).
Experience:
  • Experience with continuous improvement systems and a background in lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proven proficiency in data analytics tools (Minitab, JMP, Spotfire).
  • Preferred experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ownership and proficiency in technical problem-solving.
Essential Skills:
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to establish impactful cross-functional relationships.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Skilled in data organization and KPI report generation.
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies (Fishbone, DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, etc.).
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Black belt/Green belt).
  • Capability in managing complex processes.
  • Aptitude for simplifying and interpreting large data sets to drive actionable improvements.
  • Experience with visual KPI dashboard tools and automation.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary (domestic/international).
  • Overtime, weekend, or holiday work may be required.
  • Ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to wear appropriate PPE in controlled manufacturing environments.
