Program Manager, Strategic Investments and Venture Partnerships – West Coast

This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about innovation, investment, and building impactful relationships. As a vital member of the Corporate Venturing team, you will play a significant role in driving transformative initiatives and cultivating a network of advanced technology and business prospects.

  • Location: Primarily remote work with initial in-person training and monthly meetings required.
  • Employment Type: Temporary (12 months) with potential for permanent placement.
  • Compensation: $72-$85 per hour.

Qualifications for the Program Manager:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is essential. A Master's degree in Science or Engineering and/or an MBA is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a corporate venture capital (CVC) or venture capital (VC) environment.
  • A robust CVC/VC network on the West Coast, especially in the Boston area.
  • A proven history of sourcing, proposing, and successfully closing early-stage investments.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • In-depth knowledge in one or more areas: CASE (Connected, Automated, Shared, and Electrified) Mobility, Energy, or Climate Technology.
  • Capacity to quickly acquire technical knowledge in new fields.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on building relationships.
  • A passion for utilizing new technologies to enhance experiences, improve mobility, and delight customers.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, thriving in dynamic environments.
  • Experience in corporate development and/or formal startup investment is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities of the Program Manager:

Your role will involve engaging with investors, entrepreneurs, and the innovation ecosystem on the West Coast to identify and propose unique technology and business opportunities for investment. As a key connector within the venture community, you will monitor emerging industry trends and present opportunities to our organization. The majority of your responsibilities will focus on sourcing, identifying, proposing, and leading strategic investment initiatives with the Corporate Venturing team, while the remainder will be dedicated to expanding your network and enhancing brand visibility in the West Coast region.

  • Identify relevant deal flow through database tools and your personal network of VC and CVC firms, startups, and related entities.
  • Spot high-quality investment opportunities that involve transformative technologies crucial to our business and products.
  • Prepare and present investment proposals on a weekly basis to the Ventures team.
  • Oversee the internal investment process for selected opportunities.
  • Conduct initial due diligence, assessing market potential, technical capabilities, financial viability, and team evaluation by gathering information from target companies and industry experts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and support for portfolio companies.
  • Expand and strengthen your network of VC/CVCs, startups, and related entities.
  • Assist with internal open innovation startup collaborations as needed.
  • Possess expertise in two or more technology vertical domains.
