ROLE OVERVIEW:

As an Employment Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating change. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver both direct and indirect support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in obtaining and succeeding in meaningful employment. This position entails creating job opportunities, providing career development services, offering on-the-job coaching, and ensuring job retention. You will act as a supportive ally, maintaining a flexible work schedule to meet the employment aspirations and schedules of those you serve, and being available for support when challenges arise.

A TYPICAL DAY AS AN EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST MAY INCLUDE:

  • Empowerment & Motivation: Evaluating individual strengths, addressing obstacles, and designing tailored employment strategies to help clients reach their objectives.
  • Guided Discovery: Accompanying clients on job shadowing experiences, work trials, and career exploration initiatives to set them on a successful path.
  • Enhancing Employability: Improving job readiness by assisting with resume creation, job applications, and developing interview and interpersonal skills.
  • Building Connections: Establishing relationships with employers, organizations, and agencies to generate job opportunities and vocational training resources.
  • Ensuring Ongoing Success: Providing continuous support to clients through the Supported Employment Follow Along program.
  • On-the-Job Guidance: Offering practical assistance and accommodations to help clients excel in their positions.
  • Resource Navigation: Directing clients to external services for additional support when necessary.
  • Employer Liaison: Strengthening connections between clients and workplace leadership to ensure smooth integration into the work environment.
  • Documentation & Communication: Maintaining accurate records and clear communication to provide the best possible support for our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Employment Services is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • CPR & First Aid Certification (Training will be provided if not certified).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate client needs.
  • Reliable transportation is required.

COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
