Position Overview:

The HVAC Installer is responsible for the thorough and satisfactory installation of residential and/or light commercial HVAC systems and accessories. This role includes supervising Install Helpers to ensure tasks are completed correctly, engaging with customers to address inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction. Additionally, the installer promotes products and services to clients while working under the guidance of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently installs HVAC systems and accessories in residential settings
  • Installs heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems according to company standards and manufacturer specifications; performs limited diagnostics as needed
  • Designs, fabricates, and installs ductwork and fittings as required
  • Conducts start-ups on heating and cooling systems and associated components
  • Delivers exceptional customer service and maintains high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Promotes products and services to customers; communicates leads for replacement product sales to the Sales and Service Coordinator
  • Manages the delivery and removal of equipment necessary for installation
  • Ensures proper use, maintenance, and accountability of company property, vehicles, and tools
  • Completes all documentation accurately and promptly; collects payments from customers
  • Represents the company with professionalism, honesty, and integrity in all business interactions
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of installation vehicles, both inside and out, to uphold the company's professional image
  • Adheres to standard procedures, ensuring vehicles are properly stocked, returns defective warranty parts, and orders/replenishes stock as necessary
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Immediately reports any unsafe acts, conditions, or hazards to the supervisor/manager
  • Reports any violations of legislation or company policies to the supervisor/manager
  • Addresses substandard acts or conditions within the area of responsibility
  • Utilizes and maintains appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Ensures safety guards, devices, or clothing are not removed or rendered ineffective
  • Complies with company safety procedures and regulations
  • Operates equipment as prescribed by company policies
  • Participates in safety initiatives and committees
  • Reports all injuries or incidents as required
  • Contributes to the development of safety initiatives to minimize risks
  • Avoids actions that may jeopardize the safety of others
  • Refrains from engaging in pranks or rough behavior
  • Works in compliance with applicable legislative requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with additional training and 2 to 5 years of HVAC experience, including technical training certification
  • Possession of all valid licenses or certifications as mandated by federal, state, or local regulations
  • EPA and safety certifications are required
  • Understanding of the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems
  • Proficient in installing HVAC systems and accessories independently
  • Knowledge of ductwork layout and installation requirements
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment
  • Basic skills in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting HVAC electrical and refrigerant systems
  • Effective communication skills for customer interaction and issue resolution
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Availability for flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing ladders and maneuvering in confined spaces
  • Capability to work in various environmental conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items as required
