SUMMARY:

The HVAC Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing a variety of routine upkeep and repair tasks as a proficient technician to support operational functions within the facility. Ideal candidates should possess a trade school diploma in HVAC systems along with a GED or High School Diploma, ideally with 10-20 years of experience in the industrial or commercial maintenance sector. Candidates must be adept at interpreting blueprints and schematics, and have substantial mechanical and electrical experience. A strong capability in HVAC troubleshooting and effective preventive maintenance scheduling is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct maintenance on chilled water rooftop air handlers and associated digital and pneumatic controlled air distribution systems.
  • Monitor and maintain all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, performing repairs and preventive maintenance on large-capacity chillers, pumps, refrigeration units, and electrical/mechanical controls.
  • Utilize manual or automated control systems to manage auxiliary equipment operations.
  • Document daily operational metrics, including readings on chillers, boilers, and other equipment.
  • Ensure HVAC systems and machinery are maintained in safe and efficient working order.
  • Perform skilled pipe and steam fitting duties to support boiler heating and humidification systems.
  • Provide analytical and diagnostic services, utilizing advanced technical skills to enhance work outcomes.
  • Manage inventory of repair parts for essential equipment.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including work orders and preventive maintenance forms.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with design documents and safety standards.
  • Support the maintenance and repair of building infrastructure, including grounds and mechanical systems.
  • Execute all assigned maintenance tasks, including urgent repairs and preventive measures.
  • May assist with project work related to capital improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
  • May be required to respond to facility emergencies as a first responder.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualified candidates should have a trade school education in HVAC or a related electrical background, with a GED or High School Diploma, and ideally possess 10-20 years of experience in industrial/commercial maintenance. Candidates must be able to read blueprints and schematics and have a solid foundation in mechanical and electrical work.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in HVAC maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical diagnostics.
  • Ability to identify and resolve significant HVAC issues and plan routine mechanical installations.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude for maintaining chillers, boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques necessary for facility equipment maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
