SUMMARY:
The HVAC Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks as a skilled technician to support facility operations. Ideal candidates should possess a trade school diploma in HVAC systems along with a GED or High School Diploma, and ideally have 10-20 years of experience in the industrial or commercial maintenance sector. Candidates must be proficient in reading blueprints and schematics and possess general mechanical and electrical expertise. A strong aptitude for HVAC troubleshooting and effective preventive maintenance scheduling is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the maintenance of chilled water rooftop air handlers and associated digital and pneumatic controlled forced air systems.
- Monitor and maintain all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, ensuring timely repairs and conducting preventive maintenance on large-capacity centrifugal chillers, pumps, refrigeration systems, and electrical/mechanical controls.
- Utilize manual or automated controls to manage auxiliary equipment, ensuring proper operational sequences.
- Record daily operational metrics for plant equipment, maintaining accurate log sheets or database entries.
- Perform skilled pipe and steam fitting duties to uphold boiler heating and humidification systems.
- Conduct analytic and diagnostic services, utilizing advanced technical skills to address HVAC and electrical preventive maintenance issues.
- Maintain a sufficient inventory of repair parts for critical equipment.
- Review design documents for compliance with standards and conduct job-site inspections.
- Support crew leads in troubleshooting equipment and assist with startup and troubleshooting alarms.
- Execute all assigned maintenance tasks, including preventive and urgent work assignments.
- Participate in capital project implementations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and health policies, including ISO 14001 standards.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Promptly report all accidents and unsafe conditions.
- Adhere to all safety rules and procedures.
- Utilize required personal protective equipment at all times.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidates should have a trade school diploma in HVAC or a related electrical background, along with a GED or High School Diploma. A minimum of 10-20 years of experience in the industrial/commercial maintenance field is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in HVAC maintenance, electrical maintenance, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair significant HVAC issues.
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude for maintaining chillers, boilers, and auxiliary equipment.
- Strong communication skills to relay instructions and collaborate with team members.
- Initiative to work independently while identifying and correcting potential safety hazards.
