Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves providing direct patient care within the established scope of practice. The Clinical Nurse Specialist also plays a crucial role in guiding patient and family education and supervising the activities of other nursing staff while upholding care standards in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with physicians regarding changes in patients' clinical conditions, including hemodynamic monitoring and abnormal diagnostic results.
  • Responding promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions and treatment responses.
  • Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. Current and valid state RN License.
  2. Current BLS certification upon hire and maintenance of certification.
  3. Completion of a Critical Care Course is preferred.
  4. Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  5. Current ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance of certification.
  6. A minimum of one year of experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, with critical care experience preferred.
  7. Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification is preferred.
  8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
