Job Title: Contracts and Procurement Attorney

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Contracts and Procurement Attorney to join our team at the Texas Education Agency. The successful candidate will provide legal counsel to the agency on contracting and procurement matters, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to the agency's Contracts and Purchasing Division on contract formation, interpretation, and negotiation.
  • Review and draft contractual provisions, ensuring compliance with applicable statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Interpret executed contracts and advise TEA staff on their rights and obligations.
  • Represent the agency during contract negotiations.
  • Perform legal work involving the agency's trademark and copyright matters.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a JD or LLB degree and membership in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an attorney, preferably including some involvement with contract formation and interpretation.
  • Experience providing legal support to a Texas state agency on contracts and procurement issues is a plus.
