About the Role

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ambulatory Patient Access Representative to join our team. As a key member of our Patient Access department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient registration process for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Deliver outstanding customer service to patients and families by applying best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Registration and Scheduling: Interview and register patients in registration areas that report up through Patient Access, obtaining accurate demographic, insurance, and physician information.
  • Insurance Verification: Screen customer data to ensure patient eligibility for insurance indicated, and verify insurance pre-certification and physician referral requirements.
  • Financial Assistance: Assist in identifying self-pay patients and referring them to financial assistance when applicable.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain open communication with all departments that Patient Access interacts with and clinical staff in those areas.
  • Training and Development: Assist in the shadowing/precepting of new employees.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate, Associates Degree preferred.
  • Skills: Demonstrated computer skills required with the ability to navigate most current technology systems, strong administrative skills required.
  • Experience: One-year previous health care experience preferred.
