Senior Video Content Creator

The Video Editing Specialist role within the Creative Studio demands a high level of proficiency in non-linear video editing, particularly in a dynamic sports news context. This position requires a collaborative spirit, working closely with various editing teams and partners to enhance the creative workflow while delivering exceptional content.
At ESPN Creative Studio, part of the Content division, our team is composed of experts in Motion Graphics, Editing, Visual Storytelling, Production Innovations, Creative Operations, and Music. Our diverse roles include Video Editors, Post Editors, Producer Editors, Sound Designers, Graphic Designers, Project Managers, and Art Directors, all dedicated to crafting compelling content for ESPN's extensive distribution platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate advanced capabilities in assembling and producing content using non-linear editing software in a fast-paced sports news environment.
- Exhibit strong editing skills, effective communication, and the ability to thrive under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Ensure all video content adheres to ESPN's stringent quality standards, conducting thorough quality control measures.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of editing workflows, software, and facility organization.
- Maintain proper media organization and naming conventions.
- Build and nurture relationships with partners to understand their contributions to the Creative Studio.
- Utilize advanced organizational, creative, and planning skills to foster team collaboration.
- Provide exceptional service to all collaborative partners.
- Mentor less experienced editors in editing workflows and software.
- Contribute to training initiatives and provide constructive feedback on projects.
- Stay informed about industry technology and assist in developing new workflows for effective project execution.
- Adapt to new techniques and software platforms that align with industry trends.
- Identify and escalate issues promptly, recommending solutions to operational challenges.
- Facilitate strong communication across teams to ensure project success and innovation.
- Understand various file formats and provide support for file-based ingestion.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in editing or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Avid, or Grass Valley Edius.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications including After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Experienced in media transfer workflows (ingest, publish, export).
- Strong understanding of audio and video broadcast quality control standards.
- Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced sports newsroom environment.
- Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Flexibility to adjust work hours to meet project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth experience with non-linear editing tools, particularly Adobe and Grass Valley products.
- Strong understanding of both linear and non-linear production workflows.
- Familiarity with both PC and Mac operating systems.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field.
- Relevant vocational training or experience.
