ESPN Creative Studio operates within the Content division of ESPN, encompassing a diverse team of professionals including Motion Graphics artists, Editors, Visual Storytellers, Production Enhancement specialists, Creative Operations staff, and Music group members. Our team is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and executing content across all ESPN distribution platforms, both domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in assembling and creating video content using non-linear editing software in a fast-paced sports news environment.
  • Exhibit strong editing capabilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure, adhering to strict deadlines and live conditions with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all produced content adheres to ESPN's rigorous standards for video and audio quality, implementing quality control measures as necessary.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of editing workflows, software, and facility layouts in designated areas.
  • Maintain organized media and adhere to established naming conventions.
  • Build strong relationships with partners to understand their roles and contributions to the Creative Studio.
  • Utilize advanced organizational, creative, communication, and planning skills to foster team collaboration.
  • Provide exceptional service to all collaborative partners.
  • Possess the skills and mindset to mentor less experienced editors in editing workflows and software.
  • Contribute to training initiatives and project feedback.
  • Stay informed about industry technology advancements and assist in establishing new workflows for effective results.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt to new techniques and software platforms in line with industry trends.
  • Identify and escalate issues promptly, recommending solutions and resolving operational errors and equipment malfunctions.
  • Facilitate effective multi-directional communication to ensure successful project outcomes and achievements. Proactively initiate creative projects and propose ideas aligned with departmental goals.
  • Possess a strong understanding of various file-based formats and provide support for file-based ingestion.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in editing or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Avid, Grass Valley Edius, or Qube.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications including After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experienced in media transfer workflows (ingest/publish/export).
  • Strong understanding of audio and video broadcast quality control standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced sports newsroom environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Slack, and Workfront.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and adjust shifts to meet project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth experience with non-linear editing software, particularly Adobe products.
  • Strong understanding of both linear and non-linear production workflows, including social media.
  • Familiarity with PC and Mac operating systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Vocational training or relevant experience.
