ESPN Creative Studio is an integral part of the Content division, encompassing a diverse team that includes Motion Graphics, Editing, Visual Storytelling, Production Innovations, Creative Operations, and Music. Our unit is dedicated to the conceptualization, development, and execution of content across all ESPN distribution platforms, both domestic and international.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in assembling and crafting content using non-linear editing software in a high-pressure sports news setting.
  • Exhibit strong editing capabilities, effective communication, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines and live conditions with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all produced content adheres to ESPN's stringent standards for video and audio quality, implementing quality control measures as necessary.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of editing workflows, software applications, and facility layouts in designated areas.
  • Maintain organized media management and adhere to established naming conventions.
  • Build and nurture relationships with partners to understand their roles and contributions to the Creative Studio.
  • Utilize advanced organizational, creative, and planning skills to foster team collaboration.
  • Provide exemplary service to all collaborative partners.
  • Possess the ability and willingness to mentor less experienced editors on editing workflows and software usage.
  • Contribute to training initiatives and project feedback.
  • Stay informed about industry technology trends and assist in developing new workflows for effective project outcomes.
  • Adapt to new techniques and software platforms that align with industry advancements.
  • Identify and escalate issues promptly, recommending solutions to operational challenges and equipment malfunctions.
  • Facilitate strong communication across all levels to ensure successful project execution and achievement of goals.
  • Initiate creative projects and propose ideas that align with departmental objectives.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of various file formats and provide support for file-based ingest processes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in editing or a related field.
  • Expertise in non-linear editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Avid, or Grass Valley Edius.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledgeable in media transfer workflows (ingest, publish, export).
  • Strong grasp of audio and video broadcast quality control standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced sports newsroom environment.
  • Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Adaptability to work overtime and adjust shifts as needed to meet project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth experience with non-linear editing software, particularly Adobe products.
  • Understanding of both linear and non-linear production workflows, including social media content creation.
  • Familiarity with both PC and Mac operating systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Relevant vocational training or experience.
