ESPN's Creative Studio operates within the Content division, comprising a diverse team of professionals including Motion Graphics artists, Editors, Visual Storytellers, Production Innovators, Creative Operations staff, and Music specialists. Our team is dedicated to conceptualizing, developing, and delivering engaging content across all ESPN distribution platforms, both domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in assembling and crafting content using non-linear editing software in a fast-paced sports news environment.
  • Exhibit strong editing capabilities, effective communication, and the ability to thrive under pressure, meeting strict deadlines and live conditions with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all produced content adheres to ESPN's rigorous standards for video and audio quality, implementing quality control measures to enhance video output.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of editing workflows, software applications, and facility organization in designated areas.
  • Maintain established media organization and naming conventions.
  • Build strong relationships and acquire knowledge of partner interactions and their specific roles within the Creative Studio.
  • Utilize advanced organizational, creative, communication, and planning skills to foster team collaboration.
  • Provide exceptional service to all collaborative partners.
  • Train less experienced editors on editing workflows and software applications.
  • Contribute to training initiatives and project feedback.
  • Stay informed about industry technology advancements and assist in establishing new workflows for accurate and effective project outcomes.
  • Adapt to new techniques and software platforms that align with industry trends and requirements.
  • Identify and escalate issues promptly, recommending solutions or resolving operational challenges and equipment malfunctions.
  • Facilitate effective multi-directional communication to ensure project success and achievement of objectives. Initiate creative projects and propose ideas aligned with departmental goals.
  • Possess a strong understanding of various file formats and provide support for file-based ingest processes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in editing or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of non-linear editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Avid, Grass Valley Edius).
  • Strong familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (e.g., After Effects, Audition, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Proficient in media transfer workflows (ingest/publish/export).
  • Thorough understanding of audio and video broadcast quality control standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced sports newsroom environment.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Slack, Workfront).
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours and days off to meet project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth experience with non-linear editing software, particularly Adobe and Grass Valley products.
  • Strong understanding of both linear and non-linear production workflows, including social media.
  • Familiarity with PC and Mac operating systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Vocational training or relevant experience.
