Description

The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) is in search of a dedicated and skilled Educational Program Supervisor. The successful candidate will oversee the English language instructional team, which includes responsibilities such as recruitment, curriculum design, classroom evaluations, teacher training, and mentorship. Collaborating closely with the program manager, this role involves planning class offerings, developing curricula, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with federal grant guidelines. The supervisor will analyze program data to drive improvements and work collaboratively across the organization and with partners to enhance student services and program outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and oversee the instructional team.
  • Utilize teacher goal-setting and classroom evaluations to create development plans for educators and ensure adherence to grant requirements.
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with teachers.
  • Monitor instructional practices to guarantee comprehensive coverage of necessary skills and content.
  • Support students' progression through the curriculum with a focus on community involvement, job readiness, and career advancement.
  • Guide teachers in fostering interactive classrooms using ESOL strategies, technology, and online resources.
  • Ensure implementation of recommendations for teacher enhancement.
  • Assist teachers in interpreting and using student assessment data to inform instructional strategies.
  • Design and deliver professional development sessions, training, and demonstration lessons tailored to instructional staff needs.
Curriculum Development and Program Design
  • Collaborate with program staff to select and create curricula that align with grant requirements, student needs, and program objectives, including work-site English classes and career-specific English training.
  • Partner with job developers to identify community employment opportunities that align with the interests and skills of English learners.
  • Work alongside the program manager and case management team to engage employers for hosting work-site English classes.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with workforce organizations to provide students with access to various community resources aimed at improving employment outcomes.
Program Management
  • Collaborate with the program manager to set schedules, monitor enrollment, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Regularly analyze assessment data with program staff to enhance instructional planning and student achievement.
  • Assist in establishing program goals that align with agency expectations and grant opportunities.
  • Support assessment protocols and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Work across YWCA programs to implement new initiatives that address student needs.
  • Promote immigrant and refugee services and classes through community outreach and presentations as required.
  • Stay informed about current workforce research and best practices in ESL instruction.
  • Participate in professional training as a trainer to present to educators and staff.
  • Substitute for teachers when necessary, based on availability.
  • Attend departmental meetings and participate in YWCA functions as needed.
  • Adhere to all program grant requirements, including government and state agency regulations related to Adult Education and Family Literacy grants.
  • Comply with all YWCA policies and procedures as outlined in the Language Services Handbook.
Qualifications:
  • Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly for teaching, preparing presentations, and engaging with diverse groups.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment within established guidelines.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the YWCA.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Openness to addressing conflicts constructively to foster solutions and collaboration.
  • Dedication to personal and professional growth, with a visionary mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration at all organizational levels.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's license and proof of insurance.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Oklahoma state teacher certification or TESOL/TESL certification required.
  • A minimum of three years of ESL teaching experience; experience with Integrated English classes preferred.
  • Previous successful experience as an instructional coach, curriculum facilitator, or mentor teacher.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with educational technology, including Zoom, interactive whiteboards, webinars, and online resources.
  • Some knowledge and experience in curriculum development preferred.
