Job Summary

The University of Tulsa seeks a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Educational Technologies to lead the development and implementation of academic and learning technology strategies that align with the university's mission, vision, and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Academic and Learning Technology Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive academic and learning technology strategy that aligns with the university's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Manage Academic and Learning Technology Software and Applications: Manage the selection, acquisition, development, integration, and maintenance of software and applications that support teaching, learning, and research, such as learning management systems, courseware, e-portfolios, assessment tools, etc.
  • Ensure Security, Reliability, Performance, and Scalability: Ensure the security, reliability, performance, and scalability of academic and learning technology software and applications.
  • Provide Technical Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Collaborate with the Henneke Center: Work with the Henneke center to offer workshops in both technology and pedagogical best practice.
  • Support Faculty in Learning Technology Adoption: Support individual faculty to incorporate learning technologies to achieve better student learning.
  • Establish and Enforce Standards and Policies: Establish and enforce standards, policies, and best practices for academic and learning technology software and applications development and management.
  • Evaluate and Monitor Effectiveness and Efficiency: Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of academic and learning technology software and applications and provide regular reports and feedback.
  • Stay Abreast of Emerging Technologies and Trends: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends and assess their value for the university, recommending and implementing promising solutions for the benefit of the campus.
  • Manage Academic and Learning Technology Budget and Resources: Manage the academic and learning technology budget and resources.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Educational Technology or Related Field: Master's degree in educational technology, instructional design, or related field required.
  • Progressive Experience in Academic and Learning Technology: Must have 5 – 7 years of progressive experience in academic and learning technology software and applications development and management, preferably in higher education or similar complex environment.
  • Experience with Academic and Learning Technology Platforms: Experience with various academic and learning technology platforms, such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc. required.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Team-oriented, excels in a collaborative environment.
  • Proven Leadership and Management Skills: Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to Multitask and Manage Multiple Projects: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong Knowledge of Academic and Learning Technology Software and Applications Development Methodologies: Strong knowledge of academic and learning technology software and applications development methodologies, tools, and standards.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing, Web Services, Mobile Applications, and Data Analytics: Familiarity with cloud computing, web services, mobile applications, and data analytics.
  • Ability to Work Effectively with Diverse Stakeholders: Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
