Position Overview

Prime Machine is experiencing significant growth, leading to exciting opportunities for new team members. We are currently seeking a Machining Operations Support Specialist. This role is ideal for individuals eager to embark on a career in machining, even if they lack prior experience or formal education. It serves as an excellent entry point to learn and advance within the industry.

Work Schedule: The typical workweek consists of Monday through Thursday, featuring 10-hour shifts starting at 5:30 a.m. Overtime on Fridays is available on a voluntary basis.

About Prime Machine:

Established in 1979, Prime Machine, Inc. specializes in emergency industrial equipment repair and the fabrication of new components for a diverse clientele across the state and beyond. Our services encompass both large and small machining operations, welding fabrication, millwright field services, gearbox repair, and advanced laser inspection services. Our primary clients are involved in critical sectors such as mining, power generation, aerospace and defense.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support machinists with tooling setups and parts management.
  • Sort and dispose of various metal types into recycling containers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by managing debris and hazards.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of delivery vehicles.
  • Help in the movement of equipment in and out of heating units.
  • Ensure compliance with cleanliness standards for ISO9001 and AS9100.
  • Occasionally operate CNC machinery as skills develop.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team on preventive maintenance and projects.
  • Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
  • Manage snow removal and salting of the facility during winter months.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and pallet jacks as required.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is essential.
  • Ability to work in a machine shop setting with various materials and equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with tools and machinery is preferred.
  • Capability to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with mechanics, construction, or machining is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resourcefulness and proactivity in problem-solving situations.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Skills in multitasking and time management, with a focus on prioritizing tasks.
  • A high school diploma is required.
