Role Summary and Requirements

The Adult Oncology Nurse Navigator plays a crucial role within the multidisciplinary team, acting as an advocate and educator for patients diagnosed with cancer, guiding them through their treatment journey.

The primary responsibility of the Adult Oncology Nurse Navigator is to ensure patient adherence to their treatment protocols. This is achieved by fostering relationships with patients and healthcare providers, coordinating care plans, assisting with appointments and transportation, providing education, and facilitating access to resources.

The Navigator is also accountable for managing resources effectively to ensure high-quality outcomes for cancer patients, which includes collaboration across different facilities and specialties. This role serves as a vital link between patients, their families, healthcare providers, and the broader healthcare community, necessitating collaboration with physician liaisons and leadership for outreach and marketing efforts.

Qualifications Required:
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year as a Registered Nurse.
  • Preferred Experience: Background in oncology nursing.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN program with completion within 5 years of hire. Exemptions may apply for experienced RNs.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Preferred Certification: Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC).
