  • Completes physician's orders accurately and thoroughly, maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
  • Guides assigned patients through the healthcare system, advocating on their behalf and addressing any barriers to care.
  • Supports patients and families in coping with the psychological aspects of cancer, providing emotional support and guidance.
  • Coordinates appointments with providers for timely delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic services, accommodating patient needs whenever possible.
  • Answers patient telephone calls, processing information and resolving inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicates with physicians in a professional manner, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Relays messages to clinicians and follows up as indicated, maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Ensures all necessary materials, including films, pathology reports, and laboratory reports, are available for clinicians prior to appointments.
  • Advises patients on what to do with records and forms, ensuring they are prepared for their visit.
  • Accurately and efficiently prepares all new patient records, adhering to practice standards.
  • Elicits patient clinical information to allow for appropriate scheduling of referrals, ensuring timely and effective care.
  • Encourages referrals and schedules new appointments as indicated, based on clinical presentation and established protocols.
  • Actively identifies and addresses barriers to care, connecting patients with resources and social support systems.
  • Helps patients identify and access financial services to pay for healthcare needs, ensuring access to necessary care.
  • Works with investigators and other members of the clinical research team to identify patients as potential research subjects for available clinical trials.
  • Networks and cultivates relationships with hospital and community services, fostering collaboration and partnerships.
  • Provides community education to raise public awareness, promoting health and wellness initiatives.
  • Participates in practice hours and any and all practice locations as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Qualifications

  • RN, (Associates, Diploma, BSN) degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a related field (Surgery/Oncology) is preferred.
  • Good computer skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills are required, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.

Licenses and Certifications

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License is required.
