Position Overview

Sayres & Associates is in search of an Availability Work Package Manager (AWPM) who will play a crucial role in overseeing ship availability projects. This position requires a SECRET clearance that can be verified through DISS.

The AWPM will serve as the primary contact for all technical and engineering activities related to the assigned hull during each availability period. This role will involve collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate effective technical solutions to engineering challenges encountered during Navy ship production.
  • Track potential work items from diverse sources such as the Class Configuration Control Board (CCB), Technical Support Team, and other relevant entities, integrating lessons learned into future work.
  • Draft comprehensive Statements of Work for the Navy to facilitate consideration of changes within availability work packages and Class engineering modifications.
  • Evaluate work specifications to ensure adherence to certification standards and Class build requirements.
  • Assist in directing work to appropriate facilities in collaboration with the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center.
  • Engage with the NAVSEA Technical community to address and resolve engineering issues.
  • Participate as a member of the on-site availability management team, which may involve travel to the homeport or shipyard.
  • Conduct vessel assessments, including all accessible areas and potential dry-docks, to monitor progress during availability.
  • Contribute to the development of written responses addressing issues raised in the Commanding Officer's Letter of Concerns prior to the Final Contract trial.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree accompanied by five (5) years of experience aboard Navy vessels.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience in client/customer relations.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Possession of an active Secret security clearance verifiable in DISS.

Compensation:

The expected salary for this role ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, though actual compensation may vary based on experience, location, and contractual obligations.
