Position Overview

Sayres & Associates is looking for an Availability Work Package Manager (AWPM) to join our team. This role requires a SECRET clearance that can be verified in DISS.

The AWPM will be responsible for overseeing the technical and engineering initiatives related to Navy ship availabilities. This position will be stationed at Commander Naval Surface Pacific.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate technical solutions to engineering challenges encountered during Navy ship production.
  • Track work item proposals from multiple sources, including the Class Configuration Control Board (CCB) and other technical teams, while integrating lessons learned.
  • Draft comprehensive Statements of Work for the Navy to facilitate consideration of changes for availability work packages and Class engineering modifications.
  • Evaluate work specifications to ensure they meet certification standards and Class build requirements.
  • Assist in directing work to the appropriate facilities in collaboration with the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center.
  • Engage with the NAVSEA Technical community to address engineering issues.
  • Participate as a member of the on-site availability management team, traveling as necessary to the homeport or shipyard.
  • Conduct vessel assessments, including all areas of the ship and potential dry-docks, to monitor progress during availability.
  • Support the creation of written responses to issues raised in the Commanding Officer's Letter of Concerns in preparation for Final Contract trials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience on Navy ships.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience in client/customer relations.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Active Secret security clearance verifiable in DISS.

Compensation:

The expected salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience, geographic location, and contractual obligations.
