Job Overview:

The Process Improvement Engineer at Ismerie plays a pivotal role in the design, enhancement, and optimization of manufacturing workflows aimed at boosting productivity, minimizing expenses, and ensuring superior product standards. This position encompasses the resolution of production challenges, the application of lean methodologies, and collaboration with diverse teams for the introduction of innovative products. The Process Improvement Engineer will also be responsible for creating process documentation, training operational personnel, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality assurance systems. This role demands robust technical expertise, exceptional analytical abilities, and the capacity to juggle multiple initiatives concurrently.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and refine manufacturing processes to meet production objectives.
  • Enhance production workflows, layouts, and machinery to optimize efficiency.
  • Identify and propose solutions for process enhancement opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure new products are manufacturable.
  • Diagnose and resolve production challenges promptly.
  • Create and maintain operational guidelines, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques to minimize waste and elevate productivity.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective measures for quality concerns.
  • Assess and recommend advanced manufacturing technologies and equipment.
  • Educate production personnel on new methodologies and machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and organizational policies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and machinery.
    • Proficient in CAD software and various engineering applications.
    • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement strategies.
    • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Skills:
    • Outstanding problem-solving capabilities with the ability to analyze intricate issues and formulate effective solutions.
    • Strong project management expertise, including the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficient in data analysis and interpretation to drive process enhancements.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to instruct and mentor production staff on new processes and technologies.
  • Abilities:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity.
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing setting is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with automation and robotics in manufacturing is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate the production area for extended durations.
  • Capability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • This role involves regular interaction with Production, exposing the individual to a manufacturing setting that includes machinery, noise, and other industrial risks.
