Role Overview

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in our operations, focusing on identifying and implementing solutions that enhance our efficiency and reduce operational costs.

This position involves the planning, design, and execution of machinery, equipment, and automation systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively with various plant resources to establish safe, stable, and reliable manufacturing processes through data analysis and sound engineering practices.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement within the plant.
  • Evaluate plant equipment and processes, developing actionable plans to enhance performance.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Oversee projects that aim to reduce costs, enhance safety, or boost equipment efficiency.
  • Engage with peers across Rehrig Pacific to exchange best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine existing standards using PDCA methodology.
  • Work with suppliers and the Safety Team to conduct risk assessments on new equipment and create training materials.
  • Apply OSHA and Rehrig Pacific safety protocols to all tasks and projects.
  • Assist the local Safety Manager with work cell audits and improvements.
  • Communicate with plant personnel to identify safety challenges and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Utilize engineering principles to mitigate risks and hazards within the plant.
  • Advance local technology initiatives.
  • Drive labor reduction strategies and develop innovative solutions to achieve them.
  • Conduct research and development on cutting-edge technologies to optimize plant operations.
  • Ensure all automation systems are functioning optimally to maximize ROI.
  • Manage projects efficiently, adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Employ effective project management practices to detail project plans, costs, and resources.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and hold stakeholders accountable for deliverables.
  • Create work instructions and training materials for new equipment prior to handover to internal teams.
  • Foster personal and professional growth by setting and achieving annual development goals.
  • Seek feedback from managers, peers, and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
  • Pursue advanced training opportunities and apply new skills to work.
  • Actively engage in growth and advancement through Rehrig Pacific's Engineering Development Plan.
  • Participate in local recruitment events for engineering talent.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, Manufacturing, or equivalent).
  • Experience in project management, including familiarity with relevant tools and software.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with coding and programming is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and familiarity with relevant tools and techniques.
  • Highly skilled in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to leverage data for informed decision-making and project focus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs.

The salary range for this position considers various factors, including skills, experience, training, and organizational needs. The disclosed range is an estimate and may vary based on geographic location.
