Key Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Process Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing productivity and quality through refined process management and capability. This position involves leading initiatives to diagnose quality, material, and process challenges while advancing process control through standard operating procedures, materials management, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and skill enhancement.

  • Champion and uphold the highest safety standards in all activities.
  • Design, implement, and document experimental results for process and product innovation.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and process performance.
  • Assist in investigating customer feedback and formulate corrective action strategies.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to boost equipment reliability.
  • Engage regularly with frontline leaders and production staff to provide guidance and resolve issues.
  • Develop strategies to reduce manufacturing expenses through optimal process and equipment utilization.
  • Apply process control techniques (such as Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, and Designed Experiments) to address challenges and enhance process management.
  • Monitor improvements using established methodologies.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning focused on the effective use of Berry Global assets.
  • Manage product quality risks through comprehensive failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Conduct troubleshooting using root cause analysis techniques.
Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred; a minimum of three years in process engineering or a related field is desired, with experience in extrusion or textiles being advantageous. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting safety regulations, operational guidelines, and procedural manuals. Capable of writing technical reports and routine correspondence, and effectively managing technical resources while confidently addressing groups.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform calculations relevant to the process department.
  • Reasoning Ability: Skilled in solving practical problems and managing various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting diverse instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats. High attention to detail is essential for observing facts and interpreting data.
  • Physical Demands: This role requires prolonged periods of sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, and stretching; manual dexterity; regular lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Familiarity with the fundamentals of plastic product machinery and the underlying processes is necessary. Proficiency in using office equipment, including computers, calculators, telephones, copiers, and fax machines, is expected. Work is conducted in both office and manufacturing environments, with frequent presence on the manufacturing floor.
