This role involves providing comprehensive estimates for construction projects based on detailed architectural drawings and specifications. The Estimator will collaborate with the Senior/Lead Estimator to determine costs associated with materials, equipment, subcontracted services, and labor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the estimating and bidding processes for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Draft, proofread, and deliver proposals for both private and public projects.
- Engage with subcontractors and material suppliers to develop estimates, identify cost-saving opportunities, and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze construction documents and specifications to accurately assess costs.
- Collaborate with Operations Teams, Project Managers, and administrative staff during the preconstruction phase to evaluate plans for constructability and project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with bidding regulations and project goals.
- Prepare and present proposals to potential clients.
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Utilize internal estimating systems and software proficiently.
- Implement quality assurance measures to minimize risk in estimating processes.
- Communicate changes and issues in scope and revenue to senior management promptly.
- Administer RFQ and RFP solicitations effectively.
- Maintain effective relationships with clients, coworkers, and vendors.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in estimating construction projects.
- Ability to interpret and follow construction documents.
- Proficient in construction estimating software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with numerical and analytical capabilities.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Leadership qualities and the ability to foster effective working relationships.
- Familiarity with financial and project management principles.
- In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, along with a minimum of four years of construction experience, including at least two years in estimating.
Physical Requirements:
The role may require the ability to read and understand written communications, distinguish colors, and navigate construction sites safely while adhering to safety protocols.
