Objective:

The Cellular Research Specialist will play a pivotal role in exploring and advancing innovative processing techniques for human cells, tissues, and cellular-based products. This position encompasses all facets of assigned projects, including project timelines, experimental design, process enhancement, and budget management. The Specialist will collaborate closely with the Product Development and Marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and establish project deliverables essential for the exploration and advancement of new product processing techniques, enhancements of existing products, or product characterization.
  • Maintain project timelines to ensure timely completion, with weekly tracking and updates on project activities.
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including medical or scientific partners, departmental staff, and other divisions to execute departmental research initiatives.
  • Assist Project Engineers in scaling manufacturing processes and resolving manufacturing challenges.
  • Process human cells, tissues, and cellular-based products as required.
  • Conduct thorough literature reviews, execute experiments, analyze data, and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations to support the assigned project.
  • Design and implement scientific experiments, ensuring comprehensive data collection, evaluation, and interpretation to produce statistically significant results.
  • Conduct in-vitro or in-vivo assays as part of project experiments, whether in-house or externally sourced.
  • Perform cell culturing for designated experiments and execute cellular assays.
  • Develop and implement assay protocols and procedures for new testing methods as necessary.
  • Create guidelines, operating procedures, forms, protocols, reports, proposals, presentations, verifications, qualifications, and other documentation related to research projects.
  • Operate and maintain scientific testing equipment necessary for project-related tasks.
  • Assist in the upkeep of general laboratory resources, materials, and departmental assets.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors to source testing, equipment, supplies, materials, or other resources.
  • Implement quality assurance practices in the design and execution of project activities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of FDA, AATB, and other regulatory requirements as applicable.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Experience with complex instrumentation and software.
  • Ability to meet deadlines effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel for company meetings.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to position oneself in low or confined spaces as necessary.

Education & Experience:

  • Master's degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry) is required.
  • Doctoral degree in a scientific discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of research and development or product development experience.
  • Experience in laboratory practices, whether academic or commercial.
  • Preferred experience in tissue banking.
