Position Type: Key

Overview: The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial operations at the Sevenwinds Casino, Lodge & Conference Center and Grindstone Creek Casino. This role encompasses accounting, financial analysis, cash management, revenue auditing, and procurement activities. The Director will ensure adherence to GAAP, GASB, and FASB standards, while managing the timely preparation and analysis of financial reports. Additionally, this position is tasked with establishing and maintaining essential internal controls to protect the integrity of the property’s assets in compliance with gaming and other regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of the Finance departments' daily operations, including P&L, accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, inventory, payroll, and cash balances.
  • Stay updated on all Procedures, Policies, and Minimum Internal Control Standards, recommending necessary controls and procedures.
  • Prepare financial forecasts for both short and long-term performance for internal management and the Tribal Governing Board.
  • Support the Executive Management Team in evaluating and implementing new financial products.
  • Act as the primary financial advisor for the organization.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Chart of Accounts.
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, establishing a budget schedule and participating in the development process.
  • Lead key planning cycles, including budgets, long-range plans, annual estimates, and monthly reviews.
  • Ensure timely closure of each fiscal period by the second week of the following month.
  • Oversee timely debt payments and compliance with all financial bond requirements.
  • Ensure accounts payable are processed promptly to avoid late fees and adhere to contract obligations.
  • Assist in verifying monthly bank and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with Casino Bankroll requirements.
  • Review all financial statements for accuracy before publication.
  • Prepare custom financial reports as needed.
  • Conduct periodic cost and productivity analyses.
  • Assist in providing requested information to external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Maintain accurate records of items in storage and ensure proper record retention.
  • Collaborate closely with Executive Management to enhance transparency and fiscal responsibility.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Perform standard and ad hoc analyses to provide insights into the company’s operational and financial performance.
  • Assist in evaluating staff performance.
  • Help manage department schedules to ensure adequate coverage during month-end close and audit visits.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and mentor direct reports while supporting others within the department.
  • Assist the Executive Team in promoting best practices in corporate governance and ethical standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Management Team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA or advanced certification in accountancy is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a Controllership role.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork.
  • Ability to present financial information logically, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of various solutions.
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly advanced Excel.
  • Strong supervisory skills with a focus on mentorship.
  • Exceptional guest service attitude.
  • Experience in the gaming industry is preferred.
  • Cultural sensitivity is essential.
