Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Commissioner of Administration to join our team. As a key member of our executive leadership, you will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and coordination across various departments, including Information Technology, Financial Operations, Procurement, and Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the Commissioner and Executive Team on administrative policies and procedures, ensuring the integrity of City systems and furthering the interests of the Department.
  • Oversee the planning, operations analysis, and implementation of information services technology, ensuring compliance with Mayor's Office and DOITT standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the formulation, development, and execution of the budget process, including review of agency submissions to the Office of Management and Budget.
  • Serve as Chief Administrative Officer, enforcing and overseeing agency-wide personnel programs, including recruitment, appointments, compensation, and labor relations.
  • Direct staff in the coordination of maintenance issues, space acquisitions, fleet administration, and salvage operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and city environmental rules and regulations.
  • Provide guidance to managers on contract preparation and implementation, ensuring compliance with City Charter, Procurement Policy Board Rules, and other relevant policies.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time experience in a governmental agency, business firm, civic or educational institution, directing or assisting in the direction of one or more major areas of administration.
  • At least 18 months of experience in an administrative, managerial, consultative, executive, or supervisory capacity.
