Position Title: Key Accounts Manager (Distribution)

Reporting Structure: Reports to Area Sales Manager

Location: Candidates should be based in the Chicagoland or Milwaukee area.

Territory: Responsible for the Illinois and Wisconsin regions.

Role Summary: The Key Accounts Manager will be instrumental in driving sales growth and enhancing profitability by nurturing existing client relationships and acquiring new business within the designated territory. This role involves promoting our product offerings, delivering technical support, and conducting training sessions for both new and returning clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Management:

  • Collaborate with management to refine territory plans and establish sales objectives.
  • Assess sales potential for both new and existing clients through research and direct engagement.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations to prospective and current customers.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge to improve sales effectiveness and personal development.
  • Address client inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to provide tailored client services.

Customer Engagement:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to foster long-term relationships.
  • Identify customer needs to recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction levels and address any areas of concern.
  • Expand the business portfolio by identifying and qualifying new accounts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients to enhance loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure profitability for both the company and the customer.
  • Prepare and present detailed quotations to clients.
  • Communicate fluctuations in product demand to the purchasing department.

Market Analysis:

  • Stay informed about local regulations and consumer trends.
  • Collect competitive intelligence and market insights while collaborating with the distribution team.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training on product features and benefits to customers.
  • Stay updated on industry knowledge through continuous learning opportunities.
  • Engage in local industry events and trade associations.
  • Participate in comprehensive in-house training programs.

Professional Standards:

  • Adhere to company policies and maintain a high level of integrity in all interactions.
  • Present a professional demeanor in all customer and vendor engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a background in industrial sales.
  • Experience in wholesale distribution and familiarity with food, material handling, or packaging sectors is advantageous.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and expanding market presence.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Technical knowledge of industrial equipment and machinery is essential.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/ERP software.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.
  • This position may require up to 50% travel, including initial training at the corporate location.
