Moving Center General Manager

U-Haul is seeking a results-driven General Manager to oversee the daily operations of one of our moving and storage centers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving profitability and efficiency by managing staff, inventory, and equipment. Your expertise in problem-solving and leadership will be essential in delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the fleet to ensure clean and well-maintained equipment.
  • Perform profit/loss analyses to inform business decisions.
  • Hire and mentor new team members to drive success.
  • Track and itemize inventory to optimize operations.
  • Manage the personnel budget to ensure financial stability.
  • Ensure customers receive the highest quality of care.
  • Monitor fuel receipts and petty cash to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Clean and maintain the premises to ensure a secure environment.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of management experience in retail or a service industry with financial results and customer satisfaction accountability.
  • Computer expertise and organizational skills.
  • Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to work weekends and holidays.

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion, including long periods of remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
