Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the existing Food Safety Quality Assurance program. This position aims to expand our current protocols to ensure a verifiable standard of exceptional food safety and superior quality within the industry. Collaborating closely with the Facility Manager, Operational and Production Teams, Food Safety Personnel, OHS Manager, and particularly the Quality Control Supervisors and Technicians, this role emphasizes food safety, quality assurance, teamwork, effective communication, and meticulous refinement of protocols, policies, new product initiatives, product recalls, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements across all export markets.

Educational Requirements:

A successful candidate will have completed a University Science Degree, ideally with a focus on Biology, Chemistry, or Food and Nutrition Sciences. Credentials as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Diet Technician are preferred.

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience in management within a Food Processing or Food Safety-Quality environment is essential.

Participation in product/process costing and AOP budgeting is expected.

Familiarity with QMP/HACCP/BRC staff training and mentoring is required.

A comprehensive understanding of Advanced Food Safety & Quality Concepts is necessary.

Proficient knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) Quality Systems and Root Cause Analysis is crucial.

Experience with CFIA QMP/HACCP, FDA/FSMA, USDA, Codex Alimentarius, Microbial Pathogens, and statutory and regulatory exports, along with active participation in training in these areas, is vital.

Skills:

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required for effective training and presentations, both internally and externally.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and document management systems is necessary.

Strong analytical skills are essential.

Significant experience in Food Safety and Quality Control is preferred.

Work Experience:

A minimum of 3-5 years in quality assurance roles related to food service or food production is preferred.

Work Schedule:

This is a Full-Time position (40 hours per week) with weekend work required.
