Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the elements of SQF certification and the Quality and Food Safety systems. This includes managing document and record control, CAPA processes, and providing regular updates on the site’s Quality and Food Safety performance. This position collaborates closely with the Quality Systems Coordinator at the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the document and record control programs, including routine KPI reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining SQF Certification for the site.
  • Oversee the CAPA Program, including regular KPI reporting.
  • Analyze consumer complaints and identify trends in complaint data.
  • Lead the cross-functional Food Safety team, facilitating regular meetings to share information and discuss new procedures or equipment.
  • Implement procedures that support quality and food safety systems.
  • Develop and deliver training materials, maintaining associated records.
  • Collaborate with ASR corporate staff on document control, complaints, and CAPA systems.
  • Work with Supplier Quality to update site documentation for new suppliers and ingredients.
  • Lead the GMP Inspection and Calibration Programs.
  • Coordinate with the Site Pest Control Operator.
  • Communicate effectively regarding issues, objectives, initiatives, and performance through Management Review and Metrics Reporting.
  • Promote GMPs and adhere to plant safety procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in quality and food safety systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP training and experience in developing and maintaining HACCP Plans.
  • SQF or other GFSI benchmarked standard training/certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control practices and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience as a SQF practitioner.
  • Experience leading an internal audit team.
