Join Our Team as a Patient Support Specialist

ROLE SUMMARY

  • Evaluate and process patient enrollment applications for the Patient Assistance Program (PAP).
  • Provide assistance to patients via phone regarding PAP enrollment by confirming pre-screening and eligibility criteria.
  • Inform patients and healthcare professionals about application outcomes, including approvals, denials, and subsequent steps.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of treatments to be delivered to patients or their healthcare providers.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing calls related to the PAP program.
  • Engage with patients and healthcare providers to set expectations and gather essential information.
  • Clarify the PAP program and its services to patients, representatives, and healthcare professionals.
  • Document adverse events and inquiries following established protocols.
  • Oversee daily operations of the program.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of patient information is maintained.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in customer service or a similar client-focused role.
  • At least one year of experience in a call center setting.
  • Familiarity with insurance processes, benefit investigations, and knowledge of U.S. payers.
  • Commitment to delivering consistently high-quality service.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate Degree or technical training in a relevant field.
  • Two years of experience in pharmacy, managed care, Medicaid/Medicare, insurance, or a related sector.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, patient services, and bilingual capabilities are advantageous.

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Basic mathematical and logical reasoning skills are required.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exhibit tact and diplomacy in challenging situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • All job activities are conducted indoors.
  • Requires manual dexterity and frequent phone usage.
  • Exposure to noise and frequent reaching and handling of materials.
  • Extended periods of sitting are necessary.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and moving of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
