POSITION TITLE: Engagement Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Senior Adult Services

REPORTS TO: Manager, Senior Adult Services

Gesher Human Services serves as a vital link to hope and opportunities for individuals in various aspects of life, including work, home, and community involvement. Our programs in workforce development, behavioral health, and inclusion are designed to meet the diverse needs of all Metro Detroit residents, particularly within the Jewish community.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Engagement Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing engagement strategies aimed at individuals aged 55 and older, providing essential support and referrals for those experiencing aging and cognitive changes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, gerontology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of two to three years of experience working with older adults.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively engage with various stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation, reports, and grant applications.
  • A valid Michigan driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to travel to community events.
  • Familiarity with agency databases is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage programs tailored for individuals aged 55 and older, along with their family caregivers.
  • Assess participants' capabilities to engage in programs and provide appropriate resources and referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director to establish volunteer opportunities that align with participants' interests.
  • Assist in marketing programs and conducting community outreach to boost participation.
  • Organize and facilitate social and cultural events for program participants.
  • Recruit, screen, and onboard participants for various programs.
  • Maintain accurate case records and fulfill documentation requirements.
  • Monitor program outcomes and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Engage in agency committees as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work conditions may involve moderate noise levels typical of office environments.

Physical demands include the ability to stand, sit, utilize a computer, and perform light to moderate lifting tasks.

NON-EXEMPT STATUS

This role is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
